Spiny, the porcupine was very happy today. He had been adjudged the best student in class. His mother would be so happy. Now he could stand proudly in front of his friends in the jungle. They never thought well of him. He was dismissed always as a good for nothing. Now he had the medal to show off. He too would be treated as an equal. Now his spines would not be noticed only his merit would.
All these thoughts crossed Spiny's mind as he trudged along the path that led to the forest. But he noticed something strange. There was nobody along the way. There was no Manku swinging along the branches, no Montu hopping across the path. Even the trees seemed so still. Not a leaf moved. It was all so eerie.
What was wrong? Where was everybody? Hope all was fine. Spiny was having a premonition that something was gravely wrong.
That was when he was startled by the deafening sound right behind him. Spiny turned back and was shocked at what he saw...

There, behind him was the biggest mufu to have ever been seen. The mufu is a large hairy animal, partly horse and partly monkey, with long sharp teeth dripping saliva. Spiny was so scared he couldn't even move, all he could do was stand and stare in complete bewilderment. "Yum, I am hungry" yelled the mufu. "Please do not eat me sir...please...I was just classified as the smartest student in class...I must tell my mother!" "Well...I will let you go only if you promise to do one thing for me." "Anything, I swear, just let me go" said Spiny with relief, not even thinking of how horrible the mufu's request could be. "I want your golden medal...to EAT!!" "NOOOOOOOO!!" Spiny started to run away, but the mufu's long legs carried him further distances at faster rates than the small porcupine. He grabbed Spiny up and swallowed him whole. -Moral: Don't make promises you cannot keep.
