One day Gopu was returning home with a cow he had purchased.
On the way he met a man from his village.
"How much did you pay for the cow?" asked the villager.
"Three hundred rupees," said Gopu.
A little later he met another man who also wanted to know the price of the cow.
Gopu told him.
Some time later he met a third man.
"How much..." he began.
But before he could finish his sentence, Gopu rushed away and jumped into a well.
Passersby raised a hue and cry and soon a large number of people gathered around the well.
A rope was thrown inside the well. Gopu tied it around his waist and he was pulled up.
They asked him why he had jumped into the well.

Gopu said "everybody was asking me the same question!" I felt tired answering the same question again and again. To get rid of this question I jumped into the well.

Gopu replied " He wanted to catch fish and climb up the ladder". Gopu was angry with everyone asking him the same question. Now he made all of them angry and they all went back without asking him any more questions.

So I thought if I jumped into a well, no one could ask me anymore." Thus, saying this, he walked a away with his cow, a big smile on his face. probably because he thought he was a genius!

Gopu replied them that he bought a cow from the market and on returning he was enquired by many people about its price.He lost his patience answering many people. He was struck with an idea and he jumped into the well. He was very happy because everything went on as per his expectations. He wanted to announce that he bought the cow for three hundred rupees. As the entire village was gathered there, now he had made everybody know about the price of the cow. People of the village gave him a strange look and dispersed cursing his stupidity.

If he jumped into well, every person who belongs to his village will come and ask why he jumpled in to well. Then gopu will tell the price of the cow to every one in his village. So that everyone will know the price of the cow. He thought like that.
