Liechtenstein

Liechtenstein is a tiny Alpine country. It lies along the Rhine between Austria and Switzerland. It is one of the smallest countries in the world, having an area of only 160 Sq. km.

Liechtenstein is a constitutional monarchy headed by a prince. The present ruler, Prince Hans Adams II, is a descendant of the Austrian prince, Johann Adam von Liechtenstein, who founded the princely state in the 17th century.

Liechtenstein's postage stamps are valued by collectors the world over. Many of them are reproductions of famous paintings housed in the royal castle at Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein. The prince's art collection is one of the world's finest private collection.

The people of Liechtenstein, who number around 30,0000, speak German, boast of 100 per cent literacy and enjoy a high standard of living. The per capita income is one of the highest in the world because of industrialization and a highly developed economy.
