There is a small independent country on the north coast of Borneo, the third largest island in the world. It is the Sultanate of Brunei.
The rest of Borneo is shared by Malaysia and Indonesia. Brunei is surrounded by Malaysian territory on all sides except the north, where it borders the South China sea.

In the agricultural sector, rice is the chief food crop. Rubber is grown for export.
The capital and largest city of Brunei is Bandar Seri Begawan.
