Abdul Ghaffar Khan

1890-1986

Abdul Ghaffar Khan, popularly known as "Badshah Khan" and "Frontier Gandhi." has displayed humility courage and earnest adherence to Gandhiji's ideals. Though a member of the trigger-happy Pathan tribe:
he is a true votary of non-violence and
successfully spread the gospel of peace among the warlike Pakhtoons. A cruel fate condemned
him to become a citizen of Pakistan, and this valiant comrade of our freedom struggle had to suffer long spells of imprisonment there and ultimately seek asylum in Afghanistan. He was awarded the 1969 Jawaharlal Nehru Prize for promoting world understanding.

He is a famous person
Jehanzeb Khan
He was the greatest leader in south east asia. More then eight Ph.D degrees and research work was done on his life and struggle, by different scholars, when he was alive. He was a man in real sense in the politics of the sub-continent. He was the only politician, who was not suffering from any complex. One could see him anytime. No guard, no security arrangements, no cavalcade of cars. A simple man available anytime, loved by all. He was the father of pushtoon and that is why pushtoon call him BABA. Pushtoon all over the world love and respect him. He was the person, who termed the afghan jihad of 1979 as "fasad". And after 27 years, it was proved that this was "fasad", and was the crucification of pushtoon for national and international forces. He was a man of vision and a man of principles. I salute his struggle.

He was a person of courage. He suffered many hardships for the freedom of United India from the Britain. But he knew that that path which he was following was right and that's why he did not hesistate. And last but not the least he acheived what he wanted to acheive.

Badshah Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan was so simple a person living the life of the trur Gandhian simple living and high thinking that he walked on foot carrying his luggage on his head dfrom Old Delhi Railway Station to the Gandhi Ashram at Kingsway camp. Will anyone believe it today? I heard it from my very old father in law Shri RashBehari Ghosh of Rahara 20 years back when he stayed at the Gandhi Ashram himself!
