Sir Ashutosh enjoyed a leisurely oil bath followed by a bracing bath during the winter months. He was thus occupied when a senior British visitor came to see him. Unperturbed, Sir Ashutosh asked his retainer to call the visitor onto the sun drenched varandah where Ashtosh conducted the interview while being massaged. Such was the elan of the man. He also represented my maternal grandfather in his trial as a Bengal revelutionary, and such was his presnece that even Lord Sinha deferred to him.
