J.B. Kripalani

1888 – 1982

Patriot and intellectual, Acharya Kripalani was a Gandhian all his life and a critic of the Establishment. He revelled in satire and spoke and
wrote with biting irony and sarcasm. He was known as a gadfly. Kripalani became President of the Congress at its Meerut session in 1946, just a year before Independence. He steered the organisation through those critical days of the transfer of power with great skill. Kripalani differed from the other leaders of the Congress in his insistence on the supremacy of the organisational wing of the Congress. He was closely associated with the Janata Party which came to power in 1977 riding on the wave of national resentment against the Emergency.

you are a good writer
Nazim
Started career as a school teacher. Later joined politics. A skilled and a cool minded man having all quality to lead an organisation. He lost the presidential election in 1950 due to the sour relation with Nehru.
Dheeraj rai
He was nothing but a father of modern India.
Sachin
I want to know about his young life.
kuranchandra ghosh
An outstanding and astute politician Achaarya Kripalani forbade people to touch his or any other politician`s feet during Janata Government days. How many politicians do have that big heart?

I was fortunate enough to see face to face Acharya Kripalani and many other stalwarts who re-railed our derailed democracy through the raillery of the NATIONAL EMERGENCY IN 1975-76. Once we see such people we never forget our whole life. Both he and his illustrious wife Sucheta Kripalani were outstanding FREEDOM FIGHTERS AND AN IDEAL COUPLE.

He was so spirited at almost ninety during the Total Revolution in the 70s. At Gandhi Maidan in Patna, I saw him climbing the dais on all fours. People rushed to help him climb the steps. He declined and preferred to do it himself -- like a child.
