K.M. Munshi

1887-1971

Founder-President of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kulapati Dr. Kannaiyalal Maneklal Munshi has been truly described as a "renaissance man," for, like the great leaders of Italian renaissance, he successfully extended his sphere of activities in many directions. As an author, dreamer and romanticist, a dynamic administrator, a dedicated institution-builder, an eminent jurist, Constitution-maker, publicist and statesman, a pragmatic idelaist and philosopher in action, he was a unique representative of, and indefatigable crusader for, the reintegration of the ageless culture and heritage of India. He was a doughty champion of One India and a strong Central Government.
