Lala Lajpat Rai, with Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Bipin Chandra Pal, formed the triumvirate called "Lal-Bal-Pal." They stood for what was then known as "extremism" in Indian politics, which in pre-independent India in effect meant refusal to compromise with imperialism. Lalaji, the "Lion of Punjab" brought the valiant people of the land of five Rivers to the forefront of Indian Politics.
