LA PAZ, Bolivia's premier city has the distinction of being the world's highest capital. It is situated at a height of 3,631 m!
La Paz which has a population of around 9,00,000 was founded by the Spaniards in 1548.
La Paz, however, is not Bolivia's highest city. Another city, Oruro is 3715 m above sea level. Some of Bolivia's villages in the Andes mountains are at such high altitudes that if we had to visit them we would have to take oxygen cylinders with us. The village of Chacaltaya for example is 5130 m above sea level!

Dimdima is the Sanskrit word for ‘drumbeat’. In olden days, victory in battle was heralded by the beat of drums or any important news to be conveyed to the people used to be accompanied with drumbeats.
