The Rameshwaram temple in Tamil Nadu is said to be built at the site at which Lord Rama worshipped Shiva after his victory over Ravana, Lord of Lanka. A unique feature of this temple is the four-thousand-foot long corridor of a thousand pillars. The sculptures along the corridor have an over powering effect on the visitor.
The temple was built by King Udayana of the Setupuri dynasty in the fifteenth century.
