The Statue of Liberty stands outside New York Harbour. It is one of the world's tallest statues measuring 93 m (305 ft) from the base of the pedestal to the tip of the torch's flame. Lady Liberty, who is made of copper sheets and iron girders was designed by French sculptor, Auguste Bartholdi and built by Gustave Eiffel, creator of the Eiffel Tower.
The statue, now a symbol of freedom to the United States, was gifted to them by the French more than a hundred years ago.
