A geyser is a natural fountain which spouts water and steam at regular intervals with great force. Some geysers spout only a few centimetres, others like ‘Old Faithful’ in Yellowstone National Park in the USA spout nearly 50 m into the air.
The largest geysers however are found in Rotorua in New Zealand. One, Waimangu which is no longer active, sometimes used to cast up a column of boiling water to a height of nearly 500 m!

Dimdima is the Sanskrit word for ‘drumbeat’. In olden days, victory in battle was heralded by the beat of drums or any important news to be conveyed to the people used to be accompanied with drumbeats.
