Chhatisgarh has 16 districts. It is known as the country's rice bowl because its agricultural production is very high. The state also has huge deposits of limestone, iron, copper, manganese, coal and bauxite, among other minerals. Diamonds have been found recently in Raipur district. Chhatisgarh produces 70 per cent of India's total output of tendu leaves used for making bidis. Its thick forest contributes valuable timber. Chhatisgarh has a large number of tribal communities including the Bhils and the Gonds.
Dimdima is the Sanskrit word for ‘drumbeat’. In olden days, victory in battle was heralded by the beat of drums or any important news to be conveyed to the people used to be accompanied with drumbeats.
