Long ago, in a small village of Andhra Pradesh, lived two farmers, Murugappa and Raghu. Murugappa was very hardworking while Raghu was lazy. One particular season there was no rain and the crops were dying. Murugappa thought, "I must do something to save these crops lest they shall die." With this thought in mind, he set out in search of a river so that he could dig a canal to his field. After a long search, he found a river full of sparkling blue water. He was very happy. He started digging a canal to his fields. When it was past noon his wife sent their daughter to bring Murugappa home for lunch. But Murugappa did not go as he did not want to leave his work incomplete. He completed his work late at night. He was very satisfied. He went home, had a hearty meal and slept soundly.
Raghu also did the same. But he was not at all determined. He too started digging a canal to his fields but left his work incomplete. His fields did not get the required amount of water and thus all his crops died.
Murugappa's field was blooming as it had got the required amount of water. He had a good harvest and it was all due to his hardwork.
