TALES FROM READERS

Encounter with the Friday Ghost

I was going to my grandmother's house by bus and the bus stopped in the middle of the forest. It was very dark inside the bus all got scared because some people said that in these areas many ghosts were seen on Friday and that day was Friday. But I laughed at them and asked them who told them this cock-bull story. And then I got down to see what had happened to the bus. Its fuel was over and so I went out to take some fresh air with my friends. We went deep inside the forest.
After some time, we got lost and we started searching for the bus. During the search I got separated from my friends. Suddenly I saw something shining. It started making terrible noises. I went near it. I thought it must be the Friday Ghost. Then it turned back and stared at me. I got frightened and started running. I hid myself behind the tree. The Ghost came near me and started frightening me. I got so frightened that I gave the Ghost a tight slap and tore its mask. Believe it or not, it was none another than our bus conductor. I looked around and suddenly I saw the bus and called everyone. All hit the bus conductor very badly. Even the driver was angry with him. Then everyone began to praise me for my courage. At last I reached my grandmother's house and told her the whole story. And she said, 'So here ends your encounter with the Friday Ghost'
