Jules Verne studied for the legal profession but ended up writing novels—and became one of the most successful writers of science fiction. The Frenchman's first big success came with the publication of his novel Five Weeks In A Balloon. His two most famous works are Around The World In 80 Days and Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea.Though his books were written before the invention of the aeroplane they are popular even today.
