Vivek Vidyalaya and Junior College, Siddharth Nagar, Goregaon West has hosted the KP West Ward Level Science Exhibition 2014-15. It was held during 2nd, 3rd and 4th December, 2014. Science and Mathematics for a sustainable world was the main theme. The inauguration of the Exhibition was done by Hon'ble Minister Smt. Vidya Thakur, the minister of state for Rural development, water conservation, women and child development. Chief Guest was Dr. P.V. Narayanan Nair, Sr. Reserach Scientist (Retd) BARC. During the inaugural function, Shri S.Sriram, Presiden and Shri K.S Krishnan, Vice President of Vivek Education Society, Dy. Education Inspector, Mrs. Rajinder Kaur, Principal of Vivek Vidyalaya and Junior College, Dr. Suresh Nair and many many Principals, Teachers, Guests, Students were present. Dr. Suresh Nair said,"The Science exhibition will help the students to show case their scientific skills as well as to infuse scientific attitude among other children."
During the second day, the prize distribution of Inter School Competitions were held . The guests were cine artists Mrs. Suhasini Mulye, Mr. Vasisth, Choreographer, Mr. Javed, Mr. K. Ramachandran Jt. Secretary and Mr. K. Krishnamoorthy Hon. Treasurer of Vivek Education Society. The Magazine UDAAN has been released by by Smt. Mulye.
On third day, the Prize distribution ceremony was held. Chief Guest was Mr. Shashi R Varma, Hon. Secretary of Vivek Education Society.
In all, 97 schools participated with an overall 276 projects of students and teachers exhibited. There were many interesting projects made by young students. Bhavan's A.H. Wadia School, Andheri has been adjudges as Best School in the ward. In the second postion, Adarsh Vidyalaya, Goregaon and in the third postion, Hansraj Morarji Public School, Andheri Stood. The Zonal level Science exhibition will be held at H M Public School, Munshi Nagar, Andheri West during 16th, 17th and 18th December, 2014.
Dimdima is the Sanskrit word for â€˜drumbeatâ€™. In olden days, victory in battle was heralded by the beat of drums or any important news to be conveyed to the people used to be accompanied with drumbeats.
