CHILDREN'S CONTRIBUTIONS
There was once a man with three sons. The youngest was named Dummling. People made fun of his name and thought him stupid. One day the eldest brother was going to forest to cut wood. His mother packed him a large pancake and wine for lunch. On his journey he met an old man who asked to share his food. But the boy said `no’. And he went on his way. He began to cut a tree and hurt his leg. He had to return home. His younger brother was next to go into the forest with pancake and wine. The same old man begged to share his food. But he replied like his brother, `no, never, I will not share, make your own food’. He then rushed to cut the tree and hurt himself. He had to return home too. Dummling asked if he could go. His parents thought he would hurt himself, but at last agreed. He was sent with a stale cake and wine. When Dummling was met by the old man who asked to share his food, he said, `I have a pancake and wine. It will be too much, you can take some.’ The old man had the cake and the wine and found them delicious. He offered to cut the tree. Dummling suddenly saw a golden goose. He picked it up and returned him. He became rich, married the king’s daughter and lived happily ever after.
