Toe wrestling is an unusual sport that is popular in the U.K.The sport which is similar to arm wrestling,was first played at the Ye Olde Royal Oak in Staffordshire in 1976.
In toe wrestling competitors lock their big toes together and attempt to force the opponents foot to the ground. The player who succeeds in 'pinning' the opponents foot for three seconds without getting 'pinned' himself is the winner.[pinning is accomplished by placing one foot of the opponent]
The world toe wrestling championship, which is held every summer in Staffordshire ,includes contests for both men and women. Alan 'nasty' nash and lisa "twinkletoes" shenton are the reigning champions.
In recent times, the competition has attracted participants from far off countries like Australia and Japan. Top players include paul "toeminator" and alan "nasty" Nash, who is the current world champions.
