A fitness fanatic, who practiced Yoga, Alan Philip Eric Knott is considered by some as the finest wicket keeper ever. Jim Laker, the great England off spinner of yesteryears says, “Knott was Mr. Consistent – has he ever had an off day?” He was also a very useful right-handed batsman.
He owns a Sports Equipment shop and a Gymnasium in Herne Bay
Knott was nominated Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1970.
In a career spanning 14 years, he played 95 tests, scoring 4,389 runs at an average of 32.75, with five hundreds and a highest score of 135. He took 250 catches and had 19 stumpings. He played only 20 one-dayers and did nothing much to write home about.
