During the 1968 Ashes series in England, debutante Keith Fletcher drew flak for dropping some easy catches in the Test match at Headingley, Leeds. The match had ended in a draw.
Few years later, six IRA terrorists had each been sentenced to life imprisonment for bombing a Birmingham pub in 1975, killing many innocent people. When Fred Trueman, the English paceman who was the self-confessed 'greatest ruddy fast bowler that ever drew breath', was informed about the sentence, he devised his own method of dealing with them.
"Twenty ruddy years? Bah!" roared Fiery Fred. "That's too good for them! Those bombers should be taken down to Lord's and made to stand on top of the main pavilion. Then, I would push them off the roof one by bloody one, and have Keith Fletcher to try and catch them."
