The eucalyptus or gum trees are the dominant trees of Australia. They have been introduced all over the world including India because they are adaptable to different climates and they grow fast. The hardiest of the eucalyptus trees is the Coolabah, which grows in New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia. It is able to withstand frosts, and high temperatures as high as 50 degrees centigrade. The dense wood that the Coolabah is used for making railway sleepers.
