The Manx cat is one of the oddities of the animal world; it is tailless.
According to legend the Manx arrived late at the entrance to Noah's Ark. Noah was impatiently waiting for it to enter and as soon as it stepped in, shut the heavy door not realising that the cat's tail was still outside. The cat lost its tail and has been tailless ever since.
The Manx cat takes its name from the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea where there are two types Rumpies, which have no tail at all and Stumpies which have a rudimentary tail.
