MY SECOND HOME…

By Rukma Roy (IX C)

It was a bright sunny morning. I remember the date as well. It was 7th of April 2008. The first day of class IX! The school bag was heavier with books that smelt fresh. I was really excited to know who my subject teachers would be this year, how my class room will be and most important of all who would be my class partner. There was a bit of tension as well, since the authorities kept changing our sections. These thoughts came to my mind when I was having my breakfast. Even before class IX had started , my parents told me that I was to pull up my socks and study very hard as it was just a year before the board examinations. I was not in a mood to pay attention to their advice and left for school.
I walked out of the two-storey building with a lot of excitement for this new academic session. I was going to step into the vehicle and just then I remembered, that I still had the earphones on my ears. Ah! My Mp3 player – my most priced possession! I handed over the device to mom. We waved to each other and I was off to school.
‘So wassup?”, I asked Debapriya my companion in the Rickshaw. ‘Every thing’s just fine. You tell me how…? Suddenly both of us heard a woman scream. The scream was somehow familiar. A few metres from home, I realized it was Mom! ‘Ria you forgot your Tiffin again. Oh! God help this girl. I was red, out of embarrassment. I got down from the rickshaw, walked back the distance and took the box from my complaining mother and off we went again.
It took around thirteen minutes to reach school.
We passed the same old buildings, shops, which we have seen for 10 yrs now. It was 10.15 a.m 15 minutes before the school assembly. A few more seconds and would be reaching our SECOND HOME!!!
