IMPORTANCE OF DIWALI

By G. Sree Lasya (VIII B)

My heart beats to say 'Happy Diwali' as it is a festival of lights. Relatives meet and exchange sweets, gifts on Diwali. Everyone likes to celebrate Diwali. In the evening we wear new clothes and light lamps. Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped and businessmen start new accounts.Crackers are lit. Sweets are made. Relatives hug each other and wish 'Happy Diwali'. Last but not the least, I would like to say enjoy on the eve of Diwali but be careful when lighting fire crackers and see that some adult is with you.

Dimdima is the Sanskrit word for ‘drumbeat’. In olden days, victory in battle was heralded by the beat of drums or any important news to be conveyed to the people used to be accompanied with drumbeats.
