CRY OF HORROR

By Nikita Mankar (VIII)

Once I saw an empty house,
Where no one lived,
Not even a meek mouse.
There I heard a cry of horror,
I started trembling
in terror.
I saw a lady in a white gown,
Without thinking
Quickly I ran down.
There stood the horrible lady
With candle, she caught me
And put me under her custody.
Then something flashed on my bright head,
I laid still, with eyes shut.
On an old, broken bed
She thought I was dead,
And pulled me out, I ran ‘n’ ran,
Out of breath, I did dare,
To look back and fainted
On seeing her vanish in thin air.
