MY FIRST COOKING EXPERIENCE

By Amrusha Chati (VIII C)

This is an incident that took place four years ago but still stands out vitally in my memory. When my mother first showed me how to make tea it had looked pretty easy to me.
Looking back now I realize how wrong I had been.
The day after she taught me one of her friend came to our house.

My mother asked me to go and prepare tea for her friend. I thought I would make the most wonderful cup of tea one could ever have and make my mother proud. I switched on the gas and put the ingredients into the vessel not remembering to keep the gas on sim as I had been instructed to, I left it as it was and went to answer the phone, which had just rung. It was a call from my best friend. We talked and talked and I lost track of the time. Suddenly I smelt something burning and realizing with horror that I had left the tea on the gas I ran to the kitchen just in time to see the wonderful cup of tea spill out of the vessel. Due to the same reason my mother and her friend both came rushing in after me. I looked so disheartened and disappointed that my mother and her friend started laughing. Now every time I make tea my mother and her friend have a hearty laugh.
