ONCE UPON A TIME...

By Karan Malhotra

Once upon a time my young Chinese friend Lee was coming to Kathmandu in Nepal to visit me and his Father but unfortunately his plane crashed in one of the peaks.
As soon as I heard about this news I went to Kathmandu to visit his father. He also had no hope that his son was alive, but I did not lose hope. Some of my friends formed a rescue party and went to save Lee. Many of my friends were scared of the noises that were coming from the mountains. They were saying that it was a yeti. I did not believe them and went further. Our guide took us to the spot where the plane had crashed. We did not find Lee but his name was carved on a stone -which proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was alive.
Several days later we reached a monastery. The head of the monastery told me that he saw Lee at the horn of the yak where the yeti lived. My efforts had not gone in vain. Finally we found him at the horn of the yak.Lee was burning with fever-but we were overjoyed to see him alive and grateful to the yeti who took care of him.

Dimdima is the Sanskrit word for ‘drumbeat’. In olden days, victory in battle was heralded by the beat of drums or any important news to be conveyed to the people used to be accompanied with drumbeats.
