THE USES OF LIBRARY

By Lekshmi Rengan (VI B)

Books are the treasure houses of knowledge and wisdom. They preserve the great thoughts, the wise judgements and the accumulated knowledge of the past. These treasure-houses are open to anyone who has the ability to read and the desire to learn. Library plays an important role in the fields of education and information. Today, almost every village in the country is equipped with a library. A library contains books on literature, history, geography, philosophy, science and travel, as well as good biographies, short stories, novels and children’s books. A library is a centre of knowledge. People go to library to read newspapers, magazines and books. A library also helps the people in a locality to spend their leisure time usefully. A good library can turn the whole village or town into a place of learned men and women. Visiting a library should become the habit of everyone. Thus, now we know that a good library is a blessing to people.
