POEM

Beyond the Maple Tree

Sometimes I sit and wonder,
by the window,
what is beyond the old maple tree.
Where is the thunder,
We havenít seen in years?
And what about the widow, who lives there?
would she know?
how does she see?
the beyond?
What is beyond the maple tree?
The blue skies,
the pretty houses, and beaches,
where the fun exists.
I cannot resist,
my urge to see beyond the tree.
so one day, beyond the tree I go,
And see the world through different eyes.
The buildings, so many,
with free people walking around,
unlike my world,
which was closed,
and here now, I will have a better life,
now that I know what is beyond the maple tree.
