V.D. Savarkar |
1883–1966
|
Swatantra Veer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was a dauntless, intrepid patriot. One of the greatest revolutionaries of all times, he was sentenced to transportation for life in the Andamans in 1910. He was granted reprieve in 1937, when the Congress assumed office in what was then known as Provinces. He was one of the founders of the Hindu Mahasabha as a counter-weight to the transigent Muslim League. He vehemently opposed the vivisection of India in 1947 and the carving out of linguistic States in 1956. He was against the introduction of regional language as medium of State administration and University education. |

I'am really confused with the facts about Savarkar. When most of them have praised Savarkar, why most of them are opposing him too?

The greatest patriots like sawarkar are born once in a century. All his views are found to be correct.
Had indian government followed his policies, India could have become a mightier nation quite earlier. It is our badluck, that people opposed his ideas just for petty political benefits.

Unfortunately none of our history books contains information about Savarkar. His whole family was devoted to the nation. Before Gandhiji he was the one who discarded foreign goods. At that time even Gandhiji opposed him. It is very sad that there is a negative propaganda against him.

Veer Damodar Savarkar was one of the greatest Indian freedom fighter who always looked for a chance to free Mother India.
When he was sentenced to Transportation for life in the Andamans in 1910 and was being taken in a ship, he tried to escape from the toilet of the ship and swam across to take a chance to serve the nation. But he was caught as soon as he got to the port and this time with no mistake he was taken to Andaman.
This I studied in one of the books in my childhood days. If this is not true, please let me know.

It's very annoying to see such a great personality like him who devoted his life for the cause of the country being sidelined from the title frames of Indian history.

It is with a sad heart I say that as a child I had never heard of Savarkar! Recently I had the opportunity to see the movie on him and heard of the demand -his picture be placed in the Lok Sabha or some such building! Protectors of SECULARISM took it in their hands to ban Savarkar's name from India's history books -but sooner or later truth will find its way out! Humanity and Ahimsa are virtues and we all love Gandhiji but, so is the fact that a son of India -irrespective of his religion- did what he felt was needed to get respect and independence for his countrymen! As did Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose and Chandra Shekhar Azad!

Veer Savarkar was the greatest Hindu Politician and Revolutionary. He was multi-talented as writer, poet, thinker, reformer, politician, revolutionary, teacher all in one.

15 days before his death he stopped taking meal and after 7 days he denied from taking even water. Doctor suggested if he continues his meal and water he can live 4, 5 years more. He replied,"I know unless a young Indian tells me that he will make Sindh as a part of India I will not eat anything."

Veer Savarkar was a towering personality. He was called as a prince among revolutionaries of the world.
He had good contact with all the revolutionaries around the globe.
V.I.Lenin stayed with him for days when he was in England. At the very age of 24, Savarkar was a well known figure in the world. It is interesting to note that the father of modern Hindutwa, Savarkar was an atheist. His Hindutwa was very scientific.
He was a man of reasons. It is worth reading his biography by Dhananjay Keer.

Hindus are bound together not only by the tie of the love they bear to a common fatherland and by the common blood that courses through their veins and keeps our hearts throbbing and our affection warm but also by the tie of the common hommage we pay to our great civilisation, our Hindu culture.

Veer Sawarkar's life is the epitome of sacrifice and saga of true love for motherland. His life will remain perpetual source of inspiration for millions of people. Though he was not conferred upon the covoted awards like Bharat Ratna and Nobel, of which he is still strong claimant, his life dwarfs these awards. My chest swells like balloon while I salute him. JAI HIND!

I salute the son of BHARATMATA for his devotional service for our country. How unfortunate we are who praise gandhi, Nehru(the spuedo patriot) for the freedom. We forget about sawarkar, Bhagatsingh and netaji (the real freedom fighter) for their devotional service to us. SAVARKAR IS NOTHING BUT A SUN OF GODDESS SARSWATI ,THE RAKSHAK OF DHARMA. I HAVE NO WORD TO PRAISE HIM AS HE IS SO GREAT.

A great Indian leader who was stalwart and brave also. He was a person who was literary and wrote 7 volumes in Marthi verse and prose ,dramas and in English. He was the leader who was neglected by the nation. This is because of the so called non secularist government. A person who remained in jail for more than 20 years in jail in and a cell was named after him. My homage to him. He was great thinker.

Vinayk Damoder Sawarkar (Tatyarao) was a focused revolutionary .
That is why Subhsh Chandra Bose started his revolution by saluting Cellular Jail in Andaman.
Mr.Rashbihari Bose the founder of Azad Hind Sena always took guidence from Sawarkar.
Sawarkar had vision of India nearly 20 years ahead than other leaders.

Veer Savarkar was being taken prisoner by the British on a ship and he saw the French Coast and at once jumed down into the sea and swam on to the coast of France. His poems appealing to the sea to carry his message to the mainland from the Andamans are soul-moving. Salutes of all of us to VD Savarkar.
