SWATI
According to me there must be merit list because, I have got 93% in s.s.c. but due to no merit list I haven't been praised by anyone and I know that it really hurts when you have achieved something but no one is there to encourage you.
So I think that there must be merit list.

well its feels nice to be recognised for the hard work someone puts in. Thats why merit lists should be there. It helps a child to get encouraged to work even harder to get a prize. A merit list is good as it doesn't let the child's efforts go waste. So I think every school should have a merit list and not only 1st prizes.

Swathi my hearty congratulations to you. I am very sorry that your merit had not been recognised. But don't let your heart down. Hardwork never goes waste. I shall pay you one day or the other.

The existence of a merit list would just let down the feelings of poor scorers. ok , sure it would encourage the good scorers but its not possible with just everybody....

Merit list should be there so that the people should know the student and praise & encourage him/her.

What is a merit list? Sorry... but I'm not familiar with that term because I don't live in India. Does it mean some way of keeping track of students achievements with prizes and scholarships, yes definitely. But, it should not only be for marks scored in school, as life is more complicated than that. Such recognition must also apply to youth who achieve in athletic, and other areas as well. I think it would motivate the average and below average students to try harder. -Rakesh from Canada
