Should school children carry heavy bags?
It is not fair. Carrying too many books may cause serious injuries to their back. So,my suggestion is that children should not carry a bag full of heavy books on their backs.

Really it is very true, and even I face this problem of getting a back pain, but the only way is to provide us with lockers ,which many schools are doing today, and it is a really good solution as they can keep some of their heavy books there and not suffer like this. And even others ways can be implemented like providing light weight bags which are not putting much weight on our[children's] shoulders, and are quiet comfortable too.

I feel that children should take what is required by the teacher. Otherwise, you are only burdening your backs.

I think that we should have lighter bags. I have had back problems and arthritis since i was young. I think that we should have more time to get to class and go to our locker and not worry about being late. The teachers should just check out books when needed and use them in class so that no one has to worry about taking them home.

It is rather a common complaint heard from all most all school children.Though we carry the books according to time table the bags are still heavy. Due to heavy school bags children tend to get back pain and hunch back at an early age. It also leads to neck pains. So the solution for this according to me is that children should be made to understand in school so that they don't have to carry books home to study. They should be made to carry subjects in which the school has given them homeworks. And indeed the home works should be reduced. Children should be given lockers so that they can keep the books of those subjects which have home works. Well other methods can also be used. I think we should carry books in which we have home works.Otherwise you are just burdening your back.

Yes!!! children should not be allowed to carry such heavy bags. There are lots of scientific reasons for it, such as it causes back pain, also during summers it's very difficult. School's should provide lockers for this. So in short I think that bags should be made lighter. Or lockers should be provided, because of this nothing would become lost.

Hi Well I really appreciate that you brought this topic to light. I wish the principals could see this. I agree with you. This is really unfair. Half of the time we don't even need all the books that we have to carry. It is so painful.

Heavy bags are really a burden to the children. It should be avoided. But the school is not taking interest in it. It should be discussed.

No,students should not be allowed to to carry such heavy bags. They may cause back pain which may lead to depression due to the damaged spinal cord. Teachers should clearly mention the books required so that the students do not bring all the books of that particular subject. They could be provided with lockers so there is not much fear of any thefts or any scoldings from the teachers for not bringing that particular book. All this should be stopped as it is really unfair.

Students should not be allowed to carry such heavy school bags. It is unfair. Small children are made to carry such heavy books on their back. As the class increases, the burden on back increases. This causes pain in the back, in the neck and sometimes even hunch backs. It also spoils the posture of the child. School syllabus should be reduced to solve this problem. Bags should be made lighter and lockers should be provided so that the books are not lost.

Is there any government limit on the weight of school bags?

Student should not have heavy bags. Because firstly small students are not interested in studies, they are interested in playing. If they have light bags, then they will be more relaxed.

It is extremely difficult for us to carry school bags on our back. It pains a lot. When we have to rush to our school it is very difficult to run with school bag on our back. When we are given punishments they make us to complete few rounds of school campus by running with bag on our back. It hurts a lot and it makes us to sweat more. It takes up all our energy before we reach school in the morning.

I really oppose this statement that students should carry heavy bags to school. It causes damage to the shoulders of small children. This problem should be solved by providing lockers in the school by which everyday student needs to bring only few books.

It is a present days school students burden. The corporate schools and private schools are imposing strict instructions to the students that they must carry their notebooks, question banks besides their academic textbooks. Acually these questionbanks are unnecessary. It is very important to impart concept to students rather making mugup the answers. Moreover each subject possess two to three books. Therefore editors should try to prepare an integrated textbook for each subject. Education department should bringout a law imposing severe instructions on usage of questionbanks.

I THINK BRINGING SCHOOLBAGS TO HOME AND SCHOOL SHOULD BE AVOIDED AND GOVERNMENT SHOULD TAKE STRICT ACTION AGAINST THOSE SCHOOLS WHO ARE NOT BANNING THE SCHOOLBAGS.

Government should help the children by making compulsory arrangements of the lockers in each and every school in India. If there is any homework or exams then the students be allowed to take the books at home otherwise it is of no use making students carry heavy bags full of books every day.

IT IS ATROCIOUS TO SEE LITTLE ONES CARRYING HUGE BURDEN CALLED SCHOOL BAGS`ON THEIR BACK. MOST SCHOOLS THAT HAVE LOCKER FACILITY HAVE FAULTY TIMETABLES AND LOADS OF HOMEWORK THRUST UPON KIDS. HENCE, THEY NEED TO CARRY THE BOOKS BACK AND FORTH. THE BEST WAY IS FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO INTERVENE AND BAN CARRYING OF SCHOOL BAGS. ALERNATIVELY, USE OF WORKSHEETS TO FINISH HOMEWORK SHOULD BE ADOPTED BY ALL SCHOOLS.

Despite parents' best efforts to protect us from getting hurt, one of the greatest sources of potential injury which often goes unnoticed is the school backpack. The school bag carried by us everyday causes pain and fatigue. To manage the load, we sometimes arch our backs or lean forward, causing the development of poor posture as we grow.

I think that chilren should be provided with light books and the books which are heavy should be kept in school itself.

I ALSO FEEL THAT STUDENTS SHOULD NOT BE MADE TO CARRY SO MANY BOOKS. AS A SOLUTION I WOULD SAY THAT LOCKERS MUST BE PROVIDED AND APART FROM THAT TEACHERS SHOULD NOT GIVE MUCH HOMEWORK BECAUSE MANY BOOKS ARE CONTAINING HOMEWORK ONLY.
