Growing From A Bud
-

Not all plants grow from seeds. The African Kalanchoe, for instance develops from a leaf. The leaves of the kalanchoe develop buds along their edges. The buds soon grow into plantlets having leaves and roots. The plantlets then fall off to the ground and the roots immediately take hold in the soil. The plantlets fall off during the rains and develop proper root systems before the onset of summer, and survive drought conditions drawing moisture from deep down the earth.
