Inflating Balloon

What I need:
A bowl
A balloon
Ice cubes
Hot water
An empty soda bottle

What I do-1:

I place an empty soda bottle in a bowl of ice cubes. When the bottle becomes cold, I take out the bottle from the ice bowl and slip a deflated balloon over the neck of the bottle.

What I do-2:
After the bottle has returned to room temperature, I place it in a bowl of hot water.

The question that occurs to me:
Why did the balloon not show any change when the bottle was cold and get inflated when placed in hot water?

   Here is an analysis:

  • When the bottle is placed in a bowl of hot water the balloon inflates as:
    (Tick the right answer)
